The locations for testing and optimization were selected based on their relevance to CBS and HLB risk, including citrus orchards in areas where these pests and pathogens are present and actively monitored in the USA, Uganda, and Vietnam. These sites represent key citrus-producing regions with different climatic and management conditions, enabling comprehensive assessment of detection workflows.

At the pilot sites, extensive field testing and optimization of the molecular, robotic and digital tools will be carried out to ensure reliable and rapid inspections. Validation and demonstration will take place in four authorized Border Control Posts in Europe (Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Spain), enabling inspectors to evaluate the system under true operational conditions.
