On 22-24 April 2026, EmergeNOW consortium partner IVIA (Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Agrarias) participated in the EPPO Conference on Diagnostics of Plant Pests (Recent developments and future trends), in Vienna, Austria, strengthening the project’s visibility within the plant health and diagnostic research community through a bilateral participation that included both a poster presentation and an oral presentation.
The poster presentation, titled:
“Evaluation and Application of HTS in Plant Health Diagnostics: A Comparative Study of Second and Third Generation Sequencing (Illumina vs ONT)”, developed and presented by Félix Morán. The main objective of the poster was to evaluate and compare second- and third-generation HTS sequencing technologies for their application in plant health diagnostics.
In parallel, IVIA also delivered an oral presentation entitled:
“Portable advanced molecular technologies for detection of plant pathogens”.
The presentation was given by Ana Belén Ruiz García, and its main objective has been to develop, evaluate and validate portable advanced molecular technologies for the rapid on-site detection of plant pathogens, combining the robustness of laboratory diagnostics with fast, sensitive and specific field-applicable testing for surveillance, disease management and border biosecurity.
The audience of the conference has been comprised mainly by Diagnostic Experts.
